The Christmas Carol was written by a famous author by the name of Charles Dickens. This book is about man name Ebenezer Scrooge who is consumed with greed. Charles father was irresponsible with greed and was arrested. Scrooge is a miserable old man who hates spending money on unnecessary things, like lighting and heat. He works at his counting house with his assistant, Bob Cratchit. Fred, Scrooge's nephew, goes to visit his uncle and invites him to his annual christmas party. Two gentlemen stop by and ask Scrooge for a donation to their charity. Scrooge always has the same reaction, to anything that has to do with Christmas with "Bah!Humbug!"
When he returned home he recieved a visit from the ghost of his dead partner, Jacob Marley. Marley relates to Scrooge's unfortunate story because he has been condemned to walk around the world weighed down by heavy chains. Marley is trying to save Scrooge from having the same fate so he tells him that three spirits will visit him during the next three nights. After Scrooge falls asleep he awakes moments before the arrival of the ghost of Christmas Past, a childlike phantom with a glowing head. The spirit takes Scrooge on a journey into past Christmas'. Scrooge revisits his old school days with his apprenticeship with Fezziwig, and his engagement to Belle. Belle leaves Scrooge because she worries about his greed. Scrooge is deeply moved by what he sees and starts to cry.
The Ghost of Christmas Present who wears a green fur robes takes Scrooge through London to show him what Christmas is going to be like this year. Scrooge watches Bob Cratchits family prepare for their feast in their home. Bob Cratchits son, who is a cripple, warms Scrooge's heart with his kindness and humility. Scrooge is then taken to his nephews house to watch the Christmas party. Scrooge enjoys watching the jovial gathering and pleads the spirit to stay until it is finished. The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come leads Scrooge through an unknown mans death. Scrooge sees people discussing the dead mans riches while the poor take a sigh of relief of the unforgiving creditor. Scrooge wants to know who the dead man is and pleads the spirit to tell him. Scrooge finds himself in the churchyard, the spirit pointing at the grave. Scrooge reads the name on the headstone and is shocked to find out that is the same as his. He begs the spirit to alter his fate and promising to be a better person and be less greedy. He suddenly finds himself safely tucked in bed.
Overwhelmed with joy, Scrooge sends a giant turkey to the Cratchit's and atttends Fred's party. He keeps his promise of being a better man and as years go by he keeps his promise.
